Vitarka Mudra~ the Wheel of Law

Vitarka Mudra
Intellectual argument, discussion. The circle formed by the thumb and index finger is the sign of the Wheel of Law. This mudra is probably the most recognized depicted on many statues of the historical Buddha.

The wheel of Law (the wheel of Dharma)is the eight spoke wheel representing the Eight Fold Path and symbolizes Buddha 'turning the wheel of truth/law'

A Path of Serene Trust~

A BODHISATTVA'S RELATIONSHIP WITH A BUDDHA. Bodhisattva's are "Enlightenment Beings" who are on the path toward Nirvana, the end of suffering, the realm of Perfect Peace. They work not only for their own Enlightenment, but also for the Enlightenment of all sentient beings. Once Bodhisattva-hood is attained, the Bodhisattva is instructed by a Buddha.

~Trust~

Look to the sunset
We trust in the perfection
We just know beauty~

Desiree~

Senryu poem- This is basically Haiku with a human nature theme. The sunset analogy gives it a tint of Haiku which gives it a double meaning/style. Not always easy to do! It is a 5/7/5 syllabus and it is unrhymed.

Buddha on Gratitude~ Suttas

"A good person (sappurisa)is grateful (katannu)and helps in return (katavedi). This gratitude, this helping in return is praised by fine people. It is the attitude of a good person."

my reflection: How cool is that....Buddha is teaching us an attitude of gratitude!
Buddha you rock!

What is Sutta?
The Sutta Pitaka (suttapiṭaka; or Suttanta Pitaka; cf Sanskrit सूत्र पिटक Sutra Pitaka) is the second of the three divisions of the Tipitaka or Pali Canon, the great Pali collection of Buddhist writings, the scriptures of Theravada Buddhism. The Sutta Pitaka contains more than 10,000 suttas (teachings) attributed to the Buddha or his close companions.

Quan Yin of the New Moon~

Happy New Moon ! This new moon is in Aries and it preceding the Spring Equinox. We are moving into beautiful new beginnings. Today take a moment and tap into the unconditional love and compassion through the goddess energy of Quan Yin. Please enjoy the tanka poem I penned this morning in the energy of this beautiful new moon and my love and compassion companion...Quan Yin!

~***~Quan Yin of the New Moon~***~

The new moon is here
Her beauty is like Quan Yin
Lunar love and light
In her newness..she prevails
Wrap yourself fully in it.

note:In Japanese, tanka is often written in one straight line, but in English and other languages, we usually divide the lines into the five syllabic units: 5-7-5-7-7.

Quan Yin Tea~ and Sara

Yesterday I did not post because I am packing and I spent the day with Sara. Sara is a very cool Goddess ( high priestess!) and is a Libra chick. Sara follows my blog and she told me that reading the posts help her with her day. Thank you Sara for saying that! Well I love you Sara and you made my day yesterday! We shopped til we dropped.....and it was a magical and enchanting day! Sara took me to lunch and we decided we were going to go to Barnes and Noble and Old Navy...which turned into an 8 hour shopping extravaganza!

We even went to an Asian market and found the tea aisle....this is the biggest selection I have ever seen in tea! OMG!!! We found Kuan Yin Tea....and as I am writing this I am brewing it! We also found Lotus tea and organic teas. Beautiful!

From dragonflies to the hand of Buddha ......our treasures were endless....I love you Sara. Your truly are a Goddess!

Buddha ~ Discourse on Blessings

To associate not with the foolish
to be with the wise,
to honor the worthy ones
this is a blessing supreme.

To reside n a suitable location
to have good past deeds done,
to set oneself in the right direction
this is a blessing supreme.

My reflection: I took the above picture in the backyard. I have detached from the backyard and I am looking at all the blessings I have in my life. I hold no pain right now I feel good...I feel liberated.

Buddha says take a break girl!!!

Today I am taking a break from the attachment issue. I feel really blessed that I have had and do have such an incredible support system through this humdinger of an initiation!!! I am feeling better about everything and I am going to back off of the teaching today and just be in sync with what is all around me. Today I hold no judgment on the outcome of anything. Everything is in divine order. My dear friend and soul sistah Carole shared with me yesterday that the Vegan philosophy about birthing is this.....DO NOT PUSH.....you just OPEN! I LOVE THAT!!!!

Thank you Buddha ....you totally rock! Thank you.... to all of my beautiful friends whom have been guiding lights...or should I say high powered spotlights!! Namaste~

Shanti~ Shanti~ Shanti~

Buddha on Attachment Day 5

Sorrow springs from craving
Fear springs from craving
Whoever is free from craving
Knows neither sorrow nor fear.

my reflection: Today I posted a picture of the mantel of the condo where I live. I did this for a very deep purpose. While I am not going to disclose the entire situation.....I am really struggling with detachment. The mantel is a symbolic way for me to detach...I am not using the words....'mine' or 'my'. I am in the full realization that I am not attached to anything. I am free from suffering. I am learning in a 'real way' what the Buddha taught in this lesson. I AM feeling LIBERATED and I am moving forward.

Buddha on Attachment Day 4

The person who reaches the sacred, the inexpressible,
Who has permeated his mind with it,
Who is in control of his senses,
Is one bound upstream.

Buddha on Attachment - Day 3

The Pleasant- from The Dhammapada verse 5

Sorrow springs from affection.
Fear springs from affection.
To loosen those bonds
Is to be free from sorrow and fear.

Buddha on Attachment ~day 2

When anyone mistakenly pursues only what is pleasant,
Avoiding the true path,
Forgetting their true purpose, attached to the senses,
When anyone sees another on the true path,
They will experience their loss and be full of reproach.

Buddha~

note: “xin li you fo” In Chinese means Buddha resides in our heart.

Buddha on Attachment~ The Dhammapada

The Pleasant

Avoid attachment to both what is pleasant
And what is unpleasant.
Losing the pleasant causes grief.
Dwelling on the unpleasant also causes grief.

Do not cling to the pleasant.
Let it pass,
So that the separation will not diminish you.

Quan Yin Heal My heart

My ruby red heart
Awaits the Bodhisattva
Her heart of pure gold
Sends the awesome power of love
and compassion to heal me~

Tanka- I wrote the above poem in Tanka (haiku style with 5/7/5/7/7 syllable.) The translated 'original' Japaneses poetry will not measure correctly, however when we express tanka in English, it can be done in perfection and it is a beautiful written expression.

Soul Union- Healing Mandala & Cosmic Epic poetry

"Original Dream Team" mandala creatively designed by Thunderhands (click on Raphael, upper right hand corner)

~Soul Union~

Lost in the beautiful vastness
of the spacious starry skies
gazing and connecting with
the goddess lunar energy
enamored by the magnificent view
being captivated by an infinite Source

Beyond self knowledge
Beyond comprehension
Passion, overwhelming
A spark of divinity ignited
An intriguing closeness
and an exhilarating connection

A sacred union to All that is
A purifying and radiant cleansing
Untouched by ego, fear, and inertia
A force to be reckoned with
at every level of being
Body. mind, spirit trilogy

Absorbed by this guiding Light
The biggest, brightest star
Destined to ignite the soul
and to blow the mind
Knowing it is divinely ordered
A cosmic signature , a validation
Sealed with star dust and lunar love
Shining in the purest of cosmic ecstasy
two souls in unison, dancing the divine matrix

A brand new beginning
Of an endless story
as two souls infuse
on an illuminated path
of shadowless pasts
fearless thoughts
unconditional knowing-ness
that of Oneness...........
.......very healing indeed

~Desiree

my notes: The mandala picture is a beautiful gift that I am sharing on my blog. It is priceless to me. The free style poem I penned is what I call..."Cosmic Epic" and the two of them together (united) hold incredible healing powers to tame the soul. Enjoy!

Blessings~

Moon Goddess~ Quan Yin

As you pour your compassion from your lunar post
And you harmonize with the cherubim choir
Your love for humanity dances around the stars
Spirals through the galaxies
Tumbles through the stellar clouds
Finds it's way home to our planet
Awakening each of us to the glory
of eternal love~

Dragonfly Story

Why do we suffer and have heavy hearts?
Why does the karmic cycle seem endless?

Quan Yin sent a message on the wings of dragonfly
Dragonfly blessed the winds with her message
As the gentle breeze blew against my skin
I heard the message of Dharma and that the
greater reality of the Universe is hidden by
the grand illusion which binds me from liberation~

Dragonfly has an agenda and will fulfill that agenda
We can help dragonfly with her flight and her message
When we bend our knee we should extend our compassion
Just as the Goddess Quan Yin has so divinely displayed
...Cherish others and hold them as near and dear to our heart ....
as we possibly can~

by Desiree

"I wish that I could fly
Into the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly"..........
