Quan Yin Poem (tanka)

Goddess, Be with Me

Quan Yin be with me
I walk with you in beauty
You hold my heart near
Then we sit under moonbeams
No more tears and no more fear~

Tanka is Japanese poetry that dates back 1200 years. It is penned 5/7/5 (like Haiku) with two more lines added at 7/7 syllables. It is usually written about nature, seasons, love, and other strong emotions.

Buddha and the Moon~

Live purely. Be quiet.
Do your work with mastery.
Like the moon, come out
from behind the clouds!

My reflection~ Today I will shine. Today I will act with random kindness. I will live purely and find the time to be quiet. I will be a master at life, yes all this I will do today.

~Buddha Today~

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

"May those whose hell it is to hate and hurt be turned into lovers bringing flowers". Shantideva, 8th century Buddhist teacher

Sunday Prayer to Quan Yin~

Divine Mother of all beings,
Great Goddess
of Compassion and Mercy
May my Heart be Home to you
like your island in the sea
May I feel your presence guiding me
in fear and in rage
May the strength and the balance
of your grace filled body
be mine when I need them
and may I walk
in your Bodhisattva way
with trust and gladness
Beyond Time, Beyond the end,
Beyond the beginning~

The Buddha's Thought for the Coming Week~

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conductive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. --The Buddha

About the photo: I took this pic in Spring of '08 right after my MI. These statues were not painted for the longest time. All the statues at this Temple have been created and painted by the monks. It is really something to see.

Quan Yin Heart Blessing

~Today My Heart Heals~

Beautiful Goddess hear my cry
I sit in my shadow of doubt
I feel the pain of duality
And I am frozen in the illusion

Beautiful Goddess see my tears
My heart aches from what I see
I feel the suffering of many
I ask for peace and hope

Beautiful Goddess feel my pain
My mind and my heart need balance
I ask for my thoughts to be cleansed
I ask to walk in the Bodhisattva way

Thank you Beautiful Goddess
Today My Heart heals
